On the 17th December the European Parliament adopted the 2010 budget. According to the budget, 64.3 bn euros would be provided for jobs, infrastructure and competitiveness. The preservation and management of natural resources will receive 59.5 bn euros, while the domain of citizenship, freedom, security and justice will receive 1.7 bn euros. The EU in promoting its role as a global player will use 8.1 bn euros and last but not least the administrative expenditure for all the EU institutions will get 7.9 bn euros. It is worth mentioning that according to the Lisbon treaty, which came into force on 1 December, the role of the European Parliament concerning the influence on the budget is increased.
