Industrial Committee votes to reduce roaming charges

Many of us have had the unpleasant surprise of returning home after a visit to another EU state to find a much-larger-than-expected mobile phone bill, due to charges for calls, texts and data usage abroad.

However, the situation could soon improve, after the European Parliament’s industrial committee voted on 28th February for roaming prices to be cut once more.

The new prices would be, from July 2012, €0.25 a minute for outgoing calls and €0.08 for incoming calls, €0.08 per text message, and €0.50 per megabyte of data.
